Whether you use standard roles, custom, or a mix of both, Grovo gives you the power to make any role an indirect role by assigning it to specific groups of users.
Direct roles are assigned to individual users directly by adding them in the edit role Users tab or by editing their account information.
Indirect roles can be assigned to a group so that all the members of the group will inherit the role based on their group membership. These are great because they give you the power to set up the role once and then sit back as users automatically receive the correct permissions when they join the linked group.
To set up an indirect role, follow the steps below:
- Select or create an attribute to define the group. For example, the attribute Department = Sales can be used to create the Sales Team group.
- Create or edit the group to apply the attribute (or attributes). Adding the attribute turns it into a smart group!
- Go to Admin, Roles, and then click on the Users tab where you will type the name of the group you want to receive this role indirectly.
